Lion artwork
Lion artwork is continuing to grow in popularity which is great news as lions are one of my favourite animals (and one of my favourite subjects to paint). I’ve done 5 lion and 1 lioness artworks…read on to find out more about what makes lion artwork so special and why it might be the perfect addition to your home.
‘Fearless’, Lion, acrylic paint on linen canvas, 36 × 48 inches.
The symbolism behind lion artwork
Lions are magnificent creatures, they symbolise power, strength and leadership so it’s no wonder they make an exciting spirit animal. Lions are also often associated with royalty, with the lion being the unofficial national animal of England.
I also have a personal connection to lions, tied to my birthplace in Reading, Berkshire, as we have a lion statue in Forbury Gardens Park which is regarded as an iconic monument. My star sign is also Leo.
I was amazed to see how breathtaking lions are in-person during a recent visit to London ZSL zoo.
Who is lion wall art perfect for?
Wildlife enthusiasts - show off your love for animals. in particular, you may resonate with lion artwork if you have a fascination with African animals or have been on a safari.

“I recently went on a safari and was amazed at the wildlife. So I commissioned Jennifer to create a lion painting for me. I was absolutely amazed at the detail of the painting and how realistic it looks. It feels like I’m gazing into the eyes of a real lion. It takes pride of place above the fireplace in my living room…an incredible piece of artwork that I will cherish forever.”
Supporting wildlife through art
I’m a huge animal lover, so it’s important to me that I donate a portion of the profits from my wildlife artwork to go towards supporting endangered animals, this includes the adoption of an orangutan and a pangolin. 1 tree gets planted per original artwork order too to help protect the environment.
Each tree planted empowers the team of (almost entirely) women that run the conservation projects, supports local farmers to produce nutrient-rich crops, helps end hunger and protects the planet.
Happy client…
“Jennifer did the most wonderful artwork of a stunning lion for me. The detail is absolutely amazing, with the colours of his fur and detail around his mouth, nose and eyes, quite quite beautiful. Jennifer is a brilliant artist with an exceptional talent and a clear love of the animals she’s creating.”
Where to hang lion artwork
When considering where best to hang lion wall art you might consider what impact you want it to have. Below are some popular suggestions:
Hallway/entry - to create a bold first impression for guests.
Home office - to provide you with motivation for your workday.
Living room - to spark conversation as a centrepiece above the fireplace/sofa.
Choosing the right lion wall art
When choosing a lion artwork for your home you may wish to consider elements such as gaze, size and colour palette. A straight on headshot pose creates intensity, whilst a side profile can be seen as more reflective. The larger the artwork the more impact it will have in your home….whilst a smaller piece will suit a desk/shelf space. Colour is also an important factor, what do the colours remind you of? Take a moment to look at my 2 paintings below to see which one you could imagine hanging in your house. ‘Power’ features a fiery and passionate red colour scheme, ‘fearless’ features bold and feminine pink tones.
